MINNEAPOLIS – An attorney for legislator John Thompson pooh-poohed allegations that his client has a record of violence. The allegations are ancient history and were never proven, said Jordan Kushner. Thompson, a St. Paul Democrat in his first term in the State House of Representatives, has been told to resign because of allegations of violence and also more recent untoward behavior. The allegations of violence were in police reports over s six-year span when Johnson now 40, was 22 to 28. Kushner, said that Johnson maintains the allegations are false.” He was never found guilty of them in a court.” the attorney said. Kushner said his services to Johnson now are to defend him against a disorderly conduct charge that originated at North Memorial Hospital in suburban Robbinsdale in 2019. Thompson and others were asked to leave the hospital. “We are currently focused on the trial and do not have time to dissect these police reports from 10 to 18 years ago,” Kushner said.
