CASSVILLE, Wis. – A Cassville teenager jumped into strong current in the Mississippi river and rescued a kitten that two men had thrown in. Laura Walker, 18, took the kitten to a Dubuque veterinarian, who said it would survive. A family adopted the kitten and named it Finn. Meanwhile, Walker talked to a fisherman who witnessed the rescue and recognized one of the men who did the deed. Walker went to the police. Brandon Klein, 19, of Cassville, was facing a charge for mistreatment of an animal. The kitten, Klein said, had paralyzed legs.
