WINONA, Minn. – Police mobilized to locate a man who had texted a suicide message to a girlfriend that he would jump off the Interstate bridge. The bridge has a 32-foot drop into the swift-flowing Mississippi River main channel. Police responding to the bridge a little after midnight couldn’t find the man. The sheriff’’s search and dive team was alerted for a river mission. Then came a report that the man was climbing rooftops downtown. Police launched a search drone but couldn’t find him. Eventually man was located and referred to mental health experts.
