MILWAUKEE, Wis. – A Milwaukee County judge who serves in the court’s Children’s Division was charged with seven counts of possessing child pornography. The 15-page criminal complaint against Circuit Judge Brett R. Blomme, 38, included graphic videos. One item, from an email account, was a draft of a Christmas card that contained a photo of Blomme wearing a black judge’s robe, alongside another man and two children. In the initial court appearance, Blomme’s attorney dismissed the Christmas card draft as irrelevant. The attorney noted that Blomme and his husband Chris live in the Madison suburb of Cottage Grove with their two adopted children. Blomme was elected to his judgeship in April, After a night in jail and the initial hearing, Blomme was released on his own recognizance by Court Commissioner Brian Asmus. Blomme wasc told not to use social media or internet file-sharing nor to have any unsupervised contact with minor children other than his own and to come back for a hearing April 29.  If convicted, Blomme faces three to 25 years in prison.
