ST.PAUL, Minn. – The avian flu outbreak is more extensive in Minnesota than first thought. The state Animal Health Board found infected flocks at three more factory-scale turkey farms. That’s five sites with 376,000 birds being destroyed.

> Meeker County (Litchfield county seat): 289,000 turkeys.

> Kandiyohi County (Willmar): 40,000 turkeys.

>Stearns County (St. Cloud): 24,000 turkeys.

> La Qui Parke County (Madison): 23,000 turkeys.

> Mower Ciunty (Austin): 17 backyard chickens, ducks and geese.

The disease also has been found 20 other states, including Iowa, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
