WINONA, Minn. – A Winona man was charged with  murder in the stabbing of another Winona man two months ago. Sean M. Emmons, 38, was ordered held on $300,000 bond by Judge Nancy Buytendorp. Police said that Emmons broke into an apartment on East Sarnia Street on September11 and found his woman-friend asleep with a friend. In an altercation, the other man, Eric Gaulke, was stabbed in a knee. Emmons died three days later at a LaCrosse hospital. An autopsy attributed death to “complications of a stab wound of the left lower extremity.” The medical examiner classified the death as homicide. Authorities had delayed charging  Emmons pending the autopsy and further police investigation. He had been in jail since October 13 on unrelated drug charges. Emmons’ next court appearance for murder was scheduled for November 29.
