ST. PAUL, Minn. – If you’re COVID-pos, a new app lets people with whom you’ve been in contact to know they’ve been exposed. It’s anonymous, said Governor Tim Walz in announcing the COVIDawareMN app. “There is no data tracking, there’s no data collected,” said Walz. “There’s no data sent to the department of health nor to Google or Apple or anyone.” How’s it work? If you test positive for COVID-19, the health department will give you a code to enter into COVIDawareMN. The app then sends an anonymous alert to all your recent contacts, even strangers. They then can arrange to be tested. Bluetooth has to be enabled for the app to work. Walz said participation is an individual’s choice: “This is an opt-in alternative.” said Walz. Minnesota is the 28th state to adopt such an app similar.

Please do. Governor Walz encourages using COVIDawareMN app.
