LACROSSE, Wis. – A muted form of the corona virus, sometimes called the U.K. Strain, has been found in LaCrosse, Gundersen Clinic reported. Formally the highly transmissible variant is called B.1.1.7. It’s spreading globally. Gundersen also found the variant in two patients from Adams County, which includes Necedah and Mauston, and two patients from Allamakee County in Iowa, which includes Waukon. The mutation’s arrival was inevitable, according to public health experts. It’s believed that existing vaccines are an effective counter most of the time.
