ST. PAUL, Minn. – The state Health Department relaxed its COVID-19 ban on visitors in nursing homes. Family members and essential caregivers now have access. The ban had been in place since March when the Health Department witnessed a swelling number of virus deaths in long-term care and assisted living facilities. The visitor ban was part on a crackdown on sanitation and other protocols. To date almost 78% of the state’s 1,495 coronavirus deaths have been in nursing homes.
