PLAINVIEW, Minn. – The Plainview school superintendent cancelled the high school homecoming parade and a pep rally after pranks escalated out of bounds over several days. Superintendent Darrin Strosahl, said “fun” had crossed a line and jeopardized student safety. Strosahl said that “a mob mentality” had taken hold, although he added that relatively few students were involved. The misbehavior, he said, had been growing over six days in the build-up to homecoming. The Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School has 455 students. The cancellation dampened remaining homecoming activities. The Plainview Bulldogs lost the homecoming football game 42-27 to the Pine Island Panthers.
