WINONA, Minn. – Author Philip Venzke, a frequent journal contributor, will read from his first book of poetry, “Chant to Save the World,” at Paperbacks and Pieces on Saturday. Details: 429 Mankato Avenue from 2 to 4 p.m. . The 24 poems draws on Venzke’s experience growing up on a Colby, Wisconsin, dairy farm, two Navy tours in the Pacific, a career in technology, and globe-trotting. The book holds a 2921 James Tate Poetry Prize for “a sense of humor that pokes fun at the seriousness of the world.”
