ROBBINSDALE, Minn. —A criminal suspect wielding a knife was fatally shot by police after a brief chase in this northwest suburb of Minneapolis, Police Chief Patrick Foley said. The chief identified the person only as an adult male wanted on a felony arrest warrant. The chief offered this account: The chase began shortly before 11 a.m. Officers blocked his vehicle on a residential street. The man, armed with a knife, opened the driver’s door and got out. Despite repeated police commands to drop the knife and an attempt to taser him, the man charged at the officers. That is when one of the officers shot the suspect. He died at the scene.
