Video, witnesses show how crash occurred
ST. CHARLES, Minn. – Video shows the driver of the car in a fatal car-train collision Saturday had stopped briefly at the West 11th Street crossing, police said. Rex Herman, 88, then proceeded onto the tracks. Witnesses said the train crew, their horn blaring, bore down on the car helpless to stop immediately because of their momentum. The train, the better part of a mile long, blocked almost every crossing through St. Charles several hours.
