EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — A semi-trailer loaded with baby red potatoes caught fire on Interstate 94 near Eau Claire. The driver was able to unhitch the trailer from the cab before the fire spread but not before hundreds of the spuds spilled onto the highway. I-94 was closed about 30 minutes at the Highway 53 exit for crews to put out the flames. Westbound traffic was down to one lane about six hours while remaining potatoes in the trailer were unloaded and the trailer removed. The accident hapened about 9:30 a.m.
