CAMPBELL, Wis. – Attorney Tim Jacobson stacked packets with 600 signatures from French island people whose groundwater has been poisoned by fire-suppressant foam used for decades in fire-training exercises at the LaCrosse airport. Jacobson sent a photo of the stack to news media. The new signatures bring to 787 the number of people seeking claims against the City of LaCrosse, which owns the airport. Both the Town of Campbell and the airport share French Island, which is upriver on the Mississippi from LaCrosse. Meanwhile, 1,000 French island households are being provided bottled water by the state Natural Resources Department.
