LACRESCENT, Minn. – Authorities widened their search for the driver of a speeding truck who led police on three U-turn loops before getting away across the Wisconsin state line into LaCrosse. The truck was found later parked outside a LaCrosse address where it was thought the man lived, but he wasn’t around. Being sought was a man described as 20 years old from LaCrosse. The chase began about 9:50 p.m. on Interstate 90 at Dresbach. The pursuing Winona County deputy clocked the driver at 98 mph. The deputy gave this account: The driver turned off I-90 down Highway 61 through LaCrescent. He then U-turned back to LaCrescent and turned onto the Highway 16 dike toward the Mississippi River bridge into LaCrosse. Then he U-turned again, passing the Winona deputy head on. Then he U-turned  a third to to head again for LaCrosse; Meanwhile, a man identifying himself as the driver’s father called authorities from Red Wing this to report tyat his son had taken a truck and was in a mental crisis.
