WINONA, Minn. – John John Robert “Bob” Theile, of Winona, who held a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri died at age 83. He worked in Kansas City, Dallas, Beltsville, Witchita, LaCrosse, Shakopee and finally Winona. He had great stories, some dark, like when he “accidentally” stabbing his older brother Harry in the hand with a knife while playing mumbly peg. He told about meeting the assassin Jack Ruby in Dallas in 1963 when President Kennedy was shot. His family recalls him reciting his favorite poem, “The Cremation of Sam McGee” around the campfire and his beautiful bass voice singing Kingston Trio music.
