DULUTH, Minn. – David Allyn Benson, 83, a Houston High School graduate of 1956 known around Houston as a jack-of-all trades at the family’s popular Benson Brothers Cafe, died in Duluth. In high school he played football and basketball. After Winona State College he taught school in Edina. Later he worked for Road Machinery and Supplies as a vice president for more than 25 years. He co-founded the Yachtasy riverboat sightseeing venture in Lake City. He co-established the Bogus Creek Bakery in Stockholm, Wisconsin. In 1999 he completed the Minnesota Ironman 100-mile bike ride. He lived near family in Duluth from 2015 on.
