LEWISTON, Minn. – Earl Ethan Bockenhauer, 86, of Lewiston, a farmer who invented an addition to round balers that reduced friction and increased efficiency, died at Sugar Loaf Senior Living in Winona under hospice care. He graduated from Trempealeau Healy High School, in 1952. He farmed with his dad and also worked as a welder at Warner & Swasey in Winona. The family ran a Lewiston dairy farm until 1986 when the herd was sold. He got into the trucking business and had as many as six hired drivers. Also, he was a county manager for Archer Oil and served. He was active in the Lewiston Area Jaycees and National Farmers Organization.
