GOODVIEW, Minn. – Erik William Brom, 62, of Goodview, a software engineer who started his own company, Brom Micro Systems, died unexpectedly at home. He graduated from Cotter High School in 1977, attended Saint Mary’s University, and graduated from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology. He also worked many years at Lake Center Industries. His grandchildren called him “Grandpa Choo-Choo” and indeed he loved trains. He lectured on Winona railroad history, volunteered at the Minnesota Transportation Museum, and held a license as a diesel locomotive engineer. He belonged to the Winona Amateur Radio Club. He volunteered technical support at the Winona Historical Society.
