WITOKA, Minn. – Jo Ann Thomas, 67, of Witoka, who had been director of Houston County Women’s Resources and later co-director of the Women’s Resource Center in Winona, died peacefully at home after 25-year battle and recurrences of cancer. She was a community organizer, working for People Involved in Rice County, Minnesota Citizens Organizations Acting Together, and the Land Stewardship Project. She held a degree from Grinnell College in Iowa. When her cancer weas diagnosed in in 1996, she dedicated herself to her own healing and that of others. She completed the three-year clinically based training at the Northwestern Academy of Homeopathy in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, in 2000 and opened her practice in Winona, where she served clients for 20 years.
