HOUSTON, Minn. – Lyla V. Johnson, 102, of Houston, a career educator, died at Valley View nursing home. She was raised in Blackhammer and was a 1937 graduate of Spring Grove High School. In 1938 she graduated from Winona Teachers College. She taught at Yucatan Country School and later at Upper Looney Valley Country School and Rushford, mostly sixth graders . During the summers, she resumed her studies, receiving a bachelor’s degree education from Winona State. She retired to Kissimmee, Florida, but moved back to Houston. to be near family.
