BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Tribal casinos have taken a big financial hit from the coronavirus pandemic and likely will need to cut services to their people. Marlon WhiteEagle, president of the Ho-Chunk Nation, whose Wisconsin casinos generate more than 80% of the tribe’s annual operating budget, said the issue is simple: “If we don’t have gaming we don’t have a tax base.” There are Ho-Chunk casinos in Black River Falls. Madison, Nakoosa, Tomah, Wisconsin Dells and Wittenberg. All have been affected by social distancing and iother COVID-19 limitations.
