NEW YORK – The richest person in Minnesota is Mankato billionaire Glen Taylor, according to the new Forbes magazine list of the 400 richest Americans. At $2.9 billion, Taylor is a piker compared to list-leading Jeff Bezos of Amazon, whose worth was estimated at $177 billion. Taylor’s assets include Taylor Corporation, which has 12,000 employees in printing and other business services worldwide; the Minneapolis Star Tribune; the Minnesota Timberwolves; and Minnesota Lynx. Other Minnesotans on Forbes’ list:
> Richard Schulze, founder of Best the Buy retail chain, $4.7 billion. Technically no longer a Minnesotan. he lives in Bonita Springs, Florida.
> Bill Austin of Eden Prairie, owner of Starkey Technologies, a hearing aid manufacturer, $2.2 billion.
> Stanley Hubbard, a Twin Cities broadcast mogul, $1.9 billion.
> John and Martha MacMillan, of Plymouth and Orono, respectively, heirs of the Cargill milling fortune, $1 billion each.
