WINONA, Minn. – The school superintendent in Winona, Annette Freiheit, hopes to have specific recommendations for re-opening schools ready for the School Board to begin considering Thursday. She said three options are being considered — all students returning to buildings, all students learning from a distance, and a hybrid. The Board could put off a final decision until August 25, Freiheit noted. That would be two weeks ahead of the start of fall classes September 8. Meanwhile, the staff is examining state and national COVID-19 guidelines on building capacity and hygiene practices. Being considered, Freiheit said, were staggered schedules for students. Also being considered, she said, were how to limit congestion in halls and other interior spaces.
