WINONA, Minn. – The Winona School Board voted 5-2 to study whether to create a cultural liaison office to wok one more support forstudents of color. A study group was given a December deadline for a recommendation. Board member Tina Lehnertz, who proposed the new position, said the day-to-day needs of students of color are going unmet in a white-dominated. A $400,000 budget for the new office was suggeted, including the cultural liaison officer’s salary. In favor of the study: Nancy Denzer, Tina Lehnertz, Michael Hanratty, Steve Schild, Jim Schul.
