WASHINGTON – Further federal CoVid relief grants for small businesses, such as distributed by the Winona Chamber of Commerce, may be stopped. Congress is considering that remaining  funds instead go to new Covid-19 vaccines, testing and therapeutics. About $10 bilion was authorized earlier for small businesses, about half of which has been spent. In Winona so far, the Chamber has distributed $2.8 million in grants to local businesses, mostly $10,000 and $20,000 each. The U.S. Senate now has passed a bipartisan bill to repurpose remaining funds. The House has yet to act.
