WINONA, Minn. – A Winona State University sophomore walking to class was seriously injured when struck by a car at Broadway and Washington Street. The pedestrian, Mackensie Sinner, 19, of Ham Lake, was taken to the Winona hospital and then air-lifted to a higher-level trauma facility in LaCrosse. She suffered several skull fractures and a traumatic brain injury, a broken tibia, fibula and right clavicle. The accident was about 9:20 a.m. Police said the woman was walking south on a crosswalk. The vehicle, police said, was traveling east. The driver was a 22-year-old Winona man, police said.
