LANSING, Mich. – It was retired Judge John Roemer who was shot in his Wisconsin home, an aide to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer confirmed. Whitmer had been on an apparent hit list in the killer’s car outside the judge’s home in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. Authorities in Wisconsin, including Attorney General Josh Kaul, had refused to divulge details of the crime, not even identifying the judge as the victim. The secrecy was not explained. Everyone in New Lisbon, population 2,600, had figured it out. Various sources confirmed the shooter was Douglas K. Uhde, 56. Uhde shot himself in the judge’s basement after killing the judge. He was arrested alive after a SWAT team charged the house. Uhde was hospitalized in critical condition. Court record show Uhde with an extensive criminal record dating back 20 years. In one case, Judge Roemer sentenced Uhde to six years in prison, and nine years of extended supervision for armed burglary. . Over the years Uhde was in and out of prison. In fact, he escaped once, in 2066. Uhde was released from his latest incarceration in April 2020. In Michigan, an aide to Governor Whitmer said that others on Uhde’s the list were:

> Tony Evers, governor of Wisconsin.
