WINONA, Minn. – People smelled smoke in the six-story 118-unit Winhaven Court apartment building downtown. Firefighters found no fire but theorized, t being dinner time. that somebody had had a stove-top flare-up. The burned smell was sucked into the elevator shaft and the hallways of other floors. Heat-imaging equipment found no hot spots, but it was thought the smoke originated on the third floor. The smell eventually dissipated. The call to the Fire Department came in about 6:40 p.m.
