PRESTON, Minn. – A love triangle emerged as explanation for a stabbing over the weekend in the village of Ostrander. Court documents say that Noah Foster, 23, confronted a fellow fry cook at Susie’s Roadhouse about whether his girlfriend had been unfaithful. Then, according to the documents, Foster stabbed the guy six times in the upper chest and shoulder. This was in a car behind the restaurant about 8:20 a.m. Sunday. Foster then left on foot, according to court documents. The victim, bleeding, stumbled back into the restaurant and called 911. Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge issued a citizen alert that a man, perhaps armed and dangerous, was on the loose. Deputies searched door-to-door for Foster. About 12:45 he was spotted on the street near he Ostrander nursing home on Minnesota Avenue, six blocks from Susie’s Roadhouse. Foster didn’t resist arrest but gave a false name and address. Meanwhile, the victim had been taken to a Rochester hospital, He was in serious but stable condition.

Out back. The stabbing occurred in the victim’s car parked behind Susie’s. The two, both cooks, had gone to the car for a smoke break. Based on interviews, investigators reconstructed what happened this way: In the car the victim was in the drivers seat and Foster on the passenger side. Foster swung a knife at the victim. The victim charged Foster. Both fell out of the vehicle on the passenger side. The victim got up and pulled Foster’s coat over his head, then fled back inside the restaurant, locked the door, and called 911. Coatless in the chilly mid-20s Foster ran. He was found and arrested four hours later.
Foster. From Wykoff, 14 miles from the stabbing. When arrested, he first refused to identify himself, which led to erroneous early reports that he was from Ostrander or Rochester. In fact those were among several places that he had lived at one time or another.
