MADISON, Wis. – The attorney general, Josh Kaul, called for a Republican-engineered investigation into the 2020 Wisconsin presidential election to be shut down. Kaul, a Democrat called the investigation “a $700,000 boondoggle” using taxpayer money. As attorney general, Kaul represents election officials who are targets of the GOP investigation. The partisan thrust of the investigation seemed confirmed last week when the lead investigator, former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman, a Republican, released a video attacking Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
