SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— In a case before the Illinois Supreme Court, the Six Flags amusement park agreed to pay $36 million to settle a class-action suit over biometric scanning at entry gates. At issue was the 2008 Illinois Biometric Privacy Act on how companies can use fingerprints, hand scans or face geometry. The law specifies $1,000 penalty for each violation. The suit was begun by a mother on behalf of her son, who was finger-printed without his consent.
