RUSHFORD, Minn. – The man arrested in an armed confrontation with a Rushford police officer Saturday was Ibraheem Farah Hamza Khalifa, 35, of Rushford. He was taken into custody off State Highway 30 west of Rushford. Court records show that police approached Khalifa in Rushford about a possible violation of a restraining order. Told he was under arrest, Khalifa sped off on twisty State Highway 30, then turned off on Airport Road, according to court records.  Allegedly got out of a vehicle, pointed a gun at his own head and then at the pursuing officer. The officer fired twice. Khalifa was not hit. He eventually was arrested and taken to the Olmsted County jail in Rochester. In Fillmore County, where Rushford is located, Khalifa faces seven felonies, two gross misdemeanors and a misdemeanor.
