MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Tons of corn rushed out of a grain bin, burying two men who had opened a door on the bin to unload corn. Two other men, driving by, stopped to help and were also engulfed in what seemed an unending torrent of corn. First-responders pulled them all to safety. It took more than an hour to dig them out. Jared Youngblut was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Allen Mallie, Shaun Lambertsen and Matt Hayek were unhurt. The accident was north of town on Highway 1.
