READS LANDING, Minn. – Two cars, both northbound, collided on a narrow, windy and treacherous section of Highway 61. One of the vehicles was catapulted into the oncoming lane and struck a third vehicle. Two people in the oncoming vehicle, a 2015 Cadillac SRX, escaped injury. They were Kathleen Peter Dinskey, 83, of Winona, and James Peter Doskey, 83, of Winona. In the second vehicle, a 2001 Dodge Grand Caarvan minivan, were four people from Red Wing. The State Patrol declined to release their names immediately. Two were in their 50s, two their 20s. The people in the third car, a 2006 Honda CR-V, were Jessie Barnett Schimek, 35, of Pine Island, and Mean Barnett Schimek, 36, of Pine Island. They were unhurt. The accident was about 5:30 p.m. upriver from Reads Landing at 222nd Avenue.
