MINNEAPOLIS – While a national search for a new police chief is under way, Amelia Huffman will be interim chief. Mayor Jacob Frey announced the appointment, effective January 15 when Chief Medaria Arradondo retires. The mayor noted that Arradondo recommended Huffman. She has been deputy chief of professional standards. Huffman joined the force in 1994 with precinct-level duties. Later she became an investigator in financial crimes, crimes against children, and internal affairs.
