ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz announced a $100 million housing assistance program to help people affected by the coronavirus pandemic pay their rent and mortgages. The goal, Walz said, is prevent homelessness and maintain housing stability. The funding is from federal CARES relief funds. The program kicks in for September 1 housing payments, after existing $600 a week unemployment benefits expire.
