MADISON, Wis. – Twelve-term moderate Congressman Ron Kind fended off far-right Republican challenger Derrick Van Orden in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District, which stretches along the state’s western border and includes Eau Claire and LaCrosse. The vote was 51% to 49%. Kind accepted the victory, saying he would continue to stand up against powerful special interests, to bridge the partisan divide, and to represent “our Wisconsin way of life.” Van Orden accepted defeat at a watch party at Florian Gardens in Eau Claire.
