ORONOCO, Minn. – A new name has been proposed for the popular White Bridge Pier, which extends into Lake Zumbro off Highway 247 in northern Olmsted County. The county Parks Department, which has a master plan for four acres, wants it called Lake Zumbro Park. The new plan has roots in the county’s $750,000 purchase of the former Fisherman’s Inn restaurant property. The plan calls for a double-landing boat launch, more parking, a large retaining wall, a pavilion shelter and restrooms. Also included is a handicapped- accessible kayak, canoe and personal watercraft dock. The final decision is up to the Olmsted County Board.
