ROCHESTER, Minn. – This coming weekend is the traditional time for the Rochester Polar Plunge fundraiser, but it’s been postponed to March. Why? Too cold? Not exactly, said organizers. It’s more a Co-Vid problem. The warmup tent at Foster Arenda Lake would have been too small to accommodate everybody and still observe Co-Vid social-distancing protocols. Normally 800 to 1,000 take the plunge. Over the last 19 years the event has raised $3 million for Special Olympics.
