MAPLEWOD, Minn. – Federal authorities are investigating massive counterfeit N95 mask operations in which fake 3M masks are sold. So far, 3M said, there have been 1,250 raids.  Ten million counterfeit 3M masks have been seized. These are federal criminal investigation in contrast to civil initiatives that 3M has taken against individual distributors. At 3M, deputy general counsel Kevin Rhodes said the 3M knockoffs are coming from more and more foreign sources every day.  They’re increasingly difficult to spot and put health care workers at grave risk for the coronavirus, Rhodes said. On its own 3M has filed more than a dozen suits for fraud, counterfeiting and price gouging.
