CRESCO, Iowa – A Cresco man was placed on five years probation for a variety of charges, including theft, fleeing police, and. and endangering his toddler daughter. Steven Robert Wildman, 35, had pleaded guilty. A series of police incidents in August began with a 911 call about a truck being stolen with a loadl of scrap. When deputy located the truck, Wildman sped off at 90 miles an hour. The truck rammed through a chain at the Turkey River Wildlife Area. The deputy’s vehicle got stuck in the mud. When deputies next found the truck, it was abandoned and out of fuel. Cresco police later arrested Wildman while trying to steal another vehicle. In the vehicle was his 15-month-old daughter.
