WINONA, Minn. – The state has placed Winona Health on a second tier of health-care organizations to receive the next Co-Vid vaccine shipments. “When additional vaccine is available, Winona Health anticipates opening vaccinations again,” said Rachelle Schultz, chief executive. When that will be, nobody knows for sure. The new state distribution system gives priority to 10 large hospital systems. Mid-size and small health-care organizations have been put on a randomized schedule for later. When more vaccine arrives, Schultz said, it will be given first to patients:
> Age 75 or older currently in the process of getting vaccinated.
> Age 65 and older with chronic kidney disease, COPD, congestive heart failure, obesity and uncontrolled diabetes.
The first Winona vaccine shipments went to front-line health-care workers, first-responders, and congregate-care patients.
