ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota County Attorneys Association announced that Winona County’s attorney, Karin Sonneman, has been elected the organization’s president. The association membership includes 87 elected county attorneys and 800 assistants. Her responsibilities include lobbying legislators. Sonneman, age 67, was elected in 2010 as Winona county’s first female county attorney. She gained wide attention for the 2024 murder conviction of Adam Fravel. Her reputation also includes treatment court, re-entry and diversion reforms.

Sonneman. Holds an economics degree from the University of Minnesota and a law degree from  Mitchell-Hamline.
