WINONA, Minn. – Winona schools will return gradually to in-person and hybrid learning in the new year, Superintendent dent Annette Freiheit announced. Freiheit said the shift is driven by a priority preference for in-class instruction, which has been interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. All grades, she said, will have some form of in-person instruction by the end of January. Feiheit noted, however, that further changes may be necessitated if COVID transmission data deteriorate. In summary:
> Early childhood: In-person and hybrid learning begins January 4.
> K-1: Distance learning to January 6. In-person learning begins January 11.
> 2-4: Distance learning to January 21. In-person learning begins January 27.
> Grade 5: Distance learning to January 6. In-person learning begins January 11.
> Grade 6-8: Distance learning to January 21. Hybrid and distance learning to January 27. Hybrid learning begins January 28.
> High: Distance learning to January 21, but changes January 11 from two days a week to four days a week. Hybrid learning begins on January 27.
> Learning center: Distance learning to January 4. Hybrid learning begins January11.
There will be some non-class days for faculty training and planning.
