WINONA, Minn. – The Rios Spanish Immersion program in Winona schools opened applications for spring to line up students with Winona State University student tutors whose native language is Spanish. The program starts with kindergarteners who every year move to more advanced work in Spanish literacy. Winona State languages prof Mary Hudgens Henderson said the tutors have prepared short videos on Spanish writing conventions like spelling, punctuation and accent marks.
