WINONA, Minn. – When Roy Charles Glissendorf saw another guy on his womanfriend’s cell phone, he became enraged and started beating her with the phone. Such, anyway, is the criminal complaint against Glissendorf, 31, of Winona. His story is different. Police quoted him: “All that happened is I found out that she was cheating on me, and I was just going to return her phone, and be done with the whole thing.” Police arrested him driving afterward and recommend these charges: Drunken driving, refusing a blood-alcohol test, domestic assault, driving with no proof of insurance, driving after revocation, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The incident was at the womanfriend’s house in the 250 block of Laird Street on the East End. The woman said Glissendorf, who she said had been drinking, was angry at what he saw on the phone. She said he sat on her chest and began hitting her with the phone, noticeably bruising her face. A third person called police. Glissendorf fled. Police found Glissendorf a short while later. He admitted to drinking, police said. Did he beat the woman? No, he said, claiming that she had assaulted him. Police said Glissendorf showed no visible bruising. Was he drunk? Police said his eyes were bloodshot and a field sobriety test showed a .14% blood-alcohol level, higher than the .08% allowed for driving. At jail, however, Glissendorf refused to take a state-certified breath test.
