WINONA, Minn. — Amtrak’s Empire Builder and Borealis passenger train service through Winona was disrupted by a freight train derailment in south-central Wisconsin. Passengers were put on buses in LaCrosse and Milwaukee to bypass the blockage. The derailment was on the Canadian Pacific mainline, on which Amtrak has trackage rights. Crews expected to have the line reopened by mid-day Sunday.
