REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – A Winona State University soccer player, Georgette Topalis, organized a Gofundme for the family of teammate Ella Roberts after the Highland Park parade massacre. Roherts’ mother and third-grade brother were among 40 victims of the massacre, , seven of whom died. The crowdfunding goal was set at $500,000 by Topalis: “We are hopeful Ella’s brother will be OK, but we know his medical bills will be significant as will the therapy that will follow. Please pray that he will recover as best as possible.” Within hours the site raised $211,000 in pledges.
